The agricultural agent maintains the agricultural events portion of the civil rights files. The Affirmative Action and the Americans with Disabilities Act statements are used on all flyers, program announcements, and advertisements for the Otero County Extension Office. Mass media, flyers, letters, website and email are utilized to inform potential recipients of Cooperative Extension programs and of opportunities to participate. The county agricultural agent communicates with the Otero Master Gardeners Association and 4-H Clubs the value of diversity and the expectations for equal opportunity requirements.

2011 Long-Term Objective Report:

County Agent and Staff actively seek to representatives and participants of underserved demographics on a regular basis to encourage active participation from these segments of our local population.

2011 Medium-Term Objective Report:

Advisory boards and other extension organizations were reviewed and compared to regional census figures to ensure that demographics are represented appropriately. Staff and personnel were updated during meetings and compliant processes were reviewed.

2011 Short-Term Objective Report:

Sierra County Extension Agent and County Staff remain open and available for any civil rights training opportunities as offered by NMSU. Trainings and programs are consistently open to all audiences and demographics in Sierra County.
