Livestock Showmanship
19 youth and 15 leaders enrolled in the livestock projects attended a Workshop in Corrales or Cuba. Participants gained knowledge in animal and human safety, proper usage of equipment/tack, grooming techniques and basic showmanship. Youth participating in the training increased knowledge and skills related to critical thinking, positive sportsmanship, self-motivation and goal setting.

Record Sheet Workshop
6 youth and 4 leaders attended a Record Sheet Workshop designed to assist youth with completing their project record sheets as a part of the county portfolio. Participants gained knowledge in understanding inventories and basic financial recordkeeping. Youth participates in the training increased knowledge and skills related to critical thinking, responsibility, self-motivation and goal setting.

9 youth and 9 leaders enrolled in the small animal projects attended a Small Animal Workshop. 4-H Welding Workshop
8 youth and 3 leaders enrolled in the welding project attended a Welding Workshop. Participants gained knowledge in arc welding and safety, proper usage of equipment, torch cutting techniques and basic grinding. Youth participating in the training increased knowledge and skills related to critical thinking, self-motivation and goal setting.

NM STATE 4-H LIVESTOCK SCHOOL

State Goat School was attended by approximately 57 youth and 12 adults from New Mexico and Arizona. County 4-H Agent served as assistant instructor. Youth received hands-on training related to husbandry, disease prevention, showmanship and ethics. Youth increased mastery and independence related to critical thinking, goal setting and self esteem. Participant wrote, “I really appreciate what you did for me and all the students at goat school. I have decided to move to the next level and try State Fair.”
14 youth and 2 adults from Sandoval County attended livestock school.
