Plan Goals
Increase the capacity of county agents and community leaders to achieved sustained community economic development.
Impact Reports
Participation in NMSU CES programs held off the Pueblos has decreased by 22%.
Participation in NMSU CES and USDA programs held on the Pueblos has remained steady.

•Served as a member of the planning committee for the “Women in Ag Day” held in Las Vegas, NM on October 20, 2011, which included agents from the northeast FSA offices, Tierra y Montes SWCD and Extension agents from Mora and San Miguel Counties. The event provided agriculture programs and information on USDA and other regional programs .
The “Women in Ag Day” was attended by 77 participants from the Northeast Region of New Mexico. Training and information received by the participants will strengthen their agriculture operations.
• 2011 NM Pueblo & Community Ag Conference – USDA agencies had booths and presented their programs to participants of the conference.
• 2nd Annual Acoma Ag Day - USDA agencies had booths and presented their programs to participants of the conference.
2011 NM Pueblo & Community Ag Conference was attended by 100 participants.
The 2nd Annual Acoma Ag Day was attended by 85 participants.
The participants who attended each of the above events were provided with knowledge on USDA programs being offered by NRCS, FSA and Agriculture Statistics and Rural Development. The events allowed agents from the RAIPAP Community Outreach & Assistance Program the opportunity to develop interact with participants which in turn develops trust. The Acoma Ag Day once again allowed program agents to work closely with members of the Pueblo to host an event for their community that provided educational programs and information that was pertinent to their Pueblo. Because of the success of last year’s event the Pueblo of Acoma government official took a greater interest in planning and partnering with NMSU to make sure of the continued success of this event.

Served on the committee to coordinate and implement the Taos Resource Fair. The Fair was held on March 12, 2009 at, which over 200 participants attended and received information on USDA agencies and other agricultural organizations.

Sierra County has few places to hold large scale conferences and meetings in the county. The Sierra County fair board also needs more facilities for the fair. In an effort to combine the two needs the Fair Board has been obtaining capital outlay money from the State for the construction of a Special Events Center to be built on the fair grounds property. Many meetings have been held during these years to guide the process along with the agent’s involvement. During the past year the fair board building committee has written an RFP for the project and contracted with an architect to further the project along. Currently the project is in the Schematic design stage which should be completed before November. The building will benefit the community greatly providing a nice place for citizens to rent out, as well as hold meetings and conferences. The agent has spent over 10% of his time assisting with the project.
