Plan Goal
The specialist will coordinate and implement USDA resource fairs and appropriate officials and project team.
Situation Statement
Hispanic and Native American producers have been traditionally under-served. Introduction of USDA resources to these producers will enable them to learn of programs that will help in the continuation of their agriculture traditions.
Target Audience and Actions
Hispanic and Native American producers from Taos County, Mora, San Miguel, Guadalupe, Valencia, Cibola, McKinley, Bernalillo, Sandoval Rio Arriba, Eight Northern Pueblos and Ten Southern Pueblos.
Organize and develop channels of communication and collaboration between USDA agencies, local community agricultural organizations and Native American communities.
Short-Term Objectives
Introduce USDA agencies and other agricultural organizations to producers and members of the community.
Medium-Term Objectives
60% of participants will contact a USDA agency or other agriculture organization.
Long-Term Objectives
30% of participants will apply for a USDA program.
30% of participants will work with a agriculture organization.
Evaluation Plan
Surveys will be handed out to participants at Resource Fairs to evaluate if needs have been met.
USDA agencies and agriculture organizations that participated will be surveyed in 6 months to evaluate success of the program.
