Impact Report Fair Activities: Tagging Days: The 4-H Agent set up and held two steer tagging dates in March and two tagging dates for goats, lambs and dairy heifers in June. These livestock tag dates were held at the Valencia County Fair Grounds where a representative from the New Mexico State Fair was present to aid in tagging and retinal scans. The Agent set up dates with individual 4-Hers to tag their pigs at their residence. The Agent was responsible for coordinating dates and locations with the 4-H and FFA members showing livestock and the New Mexico State Fair Livestock officials. Valencia County Fair: The Valencia County Fair was held in Belen, NM at the Valencia County Fair Grounds. The Agent was responsible for helping gather and aid 4-Hers in filling out livestock declarations for the county fair. The Agent helped collect and display the 4-H indoor exhibits, as well as help the 4-Hers check in their livestock projects to the fair. The Agent helped 4-Hers prepare for their livestock shows by demonstrating proper grooming and showing techniques. New Mexico State Fair: The Agent was responsible for gathering and checking in exhibits to the New Mexico State Fair as well as aiding 4-Hers in filling out their livestock declarations for the state fair. The Agent helped support the families at the State Fair in any show preparations 4-Hers needed.
