Impact Report Horse Activities: District Horse Show: The Agent organized the District Horse Show in Belen, NM at the Valencia County Fair Grounds, which allowed youth participants from the NW District to compete for qualification for the State 4-H Horse Show. 32 4-H youth competitors representing seven counties participated in the event. The Agent was responsible for contacting a judge, ordering the ribbons, sending out the entry forms, getting donations for buckles and buckets, and being the score keeper for the event. State 4-H Horse School: 9 novice, junior and senior 4-H’ers from Valencia County participated in this statewide event held in Albuquerque, New Mexico in June. The youth who participated in this event had a hands-on learning experience with their horse as well as with other youth from the state and increased their life and leadership skills that include self-confidence, self-esteem, communication skills, and teamwork.
