This county-level plan is managed by . Print this page to create a Plan of Work signature page.
Plan Goal
Private land ranchers, suburban dwellers and state and federal agency range conservationists will be provided information on the most efficacious, economical and ecologically sound means of managing noxious brush and weeds.
Situation Statement
Large areas of Lincoln county are infested with undesirable brush species. Current severe brush encroachment began in the 1930's with fire control efforts on rangeland, woodland and forested areas. Consequently, vast areas of the county on federal, state and private land are overgrown with pine and juniper scrub adversely affecting rangeland and watershed quality. Increased fuel load as a result of brush is of concern from a wildland fire standpoint. In addition, increasing awareness of invasive weed infestation causes concern to the rural and suburban dweller alike. An educational program made available to county residents about weed and brush control can help alleviate problems associated with these infestations.
Target Audience and Actions
Target audience will be all residents of Lincoln county who are concerned about brush and weed encroachment. Since many people are moving to the county on small acreages and are concerned about their immediate enviroment, this problem concerns them as well as the rancher and state or federal land manager.
