Plan Goal

To develop life skills in youth and 4-H members in Lincoln County by gaining knowledge in subject matter of home economics (nutrition, clothing, consumerism, child development) and personal growth (citizenship, leadership, and public speaking).

Situation Statement

In Lincoln County there are approximately 3,799 youth between the ages of 5-19 (US Census). The Lincoln County 4-H program provides youth with opportunities to learn new skills, gain self-confidence, and become responsible citizens to their communities.

Target Audience and Actions

Lincoln County youth ages 5-19 will gain knowledge in the areas of leadership, citizenship, and life skills through their participation in programs, activites and events. Programs will be provided through special interest groups and school enrichemnt in Lincoln county schools; Home Economics project work and workshops; County, District, and State Competitive 4-H events; record books; leadership; 4-H county council.

Short-Term Objectives

During the 4-H year youth will be provided the opportunity to increase their knowledge in the area of home economics, and personal growth and development through hands-on experiences.
Youth will be given the opportunity to expand their leadership skills by attending workshops, camps, fairs, community service projects, and officer trainings.

Medium-Term Objectives

Youth with 2-3 years of experience in 4-H programming will learn subject matter concepts through hands-on experiences such as camps, clinics, workshops, etc.
Youth with 2-3 years of experience in 4-H programming will develop life skills through project work, competitive events, real-life situations and career exploration opportunities.
Youth with 2-3 years of experience in 4-H will gain public speaking skills, strengthening communication and organization abilities and self-concept, through speaking at club, school enrichment and special interest events. Youth with 2-3 years of experience in 4-H club, school enrichment, special interest and county 4-H events will develop cognitive skills, teamwork, leadership and citizenship potential.
Youth with 2-3 years of experience in the 4-H club program will gain leadership and teamwork skills through leadership opportunities at the club, county and state levels and demonstrate effective leadership and teamwork skills to local community members, organizations and projects, and provide primary leadership to statewide events.
Youth with 2-3 years of experience in the 4-H club program will establish partnerships with local administrators and community leaders, effectively managing programs and facilitating change through youth/adult partnerships.

Long-Term Objectives

Youth with at least 4 years of experience in 4-H programming will learn subject matter concepts through hands-on experiences such as camps, clinics, workshops, etc. developing like skills through project work, competitive events, real-life situatuions and career exploration opportunites.

Evaluation Plan

Evaluations will be conducted through surveys conducted for a portion of workshops and major events. Surveys are designed to measure effectiveness of program, life & leadership skills learned and self-concept of youth participants.
