Plan Goal
Oversee the Socorro County Tourism Council providing a network of resources throughout the county to collaborate on events, grants and tourism.
Situation Statement
Socorro County is rural in nature, with some opportunities to take advantage of tourism. Socorro County is the crossroads of the state with an Interstate running north and south, and HWY 60 running east and west. The Socorro County Tourism Council has been a great networking and event group developing opportunities for the whole of communities. The council has been able to tie Socorro and Magdalena more closely to assist both communities in promoting and being effective with tourism. The network and collaboration of the group has also netted more in grant funding.
Target Audience and Actions
Person's involved in any aspect that would relate to tourism. These individuals would be targeted in every community in the county.
Short-Term Objectives
5% of community members involved in services such as hotels and gas station attendants will gain an appreciation for hospitality in community as it relates to tourism through a collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce.
Medium-Term Objectives
Socorro County Tourism council will work together through collaborations to provide events within the community.
Long-Term Objectives
Socorro County Tourism Council will assist in providing communities with economic dollars, thru marketing and experiences.
Evaluation Plan
Evaluate economic revenue in county through lodger's tax funds.
Assess the attitudes of community on tourism objectives through interviews.
