Plan Goal
To provide opportunities for personal growth and development of Lincoln county youth through their involvement in 4-H projects, citizenship and leadership activities.
Situation Statement
Lincoln county has a traditional 4-H program consisting of seven organized clubs covering all areas of the county. Club members are provided the opportunity to obtain life skills through participation in 4-H project work as well as citizenship and leadership activities. Volunteer leaders are essential components in our county program. In addition, periodic school enrichment and special interest activities target the non-traditional 4-H audience.
Target Audience and Actions
Lincoln county youth ages 5-19 are targeted to learn life skills through 4-H sponsored activites. Activities include 4-H project work at the club and county level, workshops, competition used as a teaching tool, county 4-H council, leadership opportunities, participation in county, district and state events, special interest and school enrichment activities.
Short-Term Objectives
During the 4-H year all 4-H members will be provided the opportunity to increase their knowledge of project areas with help from volunteer adult or teen leaders or county Extension staff.
All 4-H members will be given the opportunity to expand their social and leadership skills by having workshops, camps or other events available to their appropriate age groups.
During the 4-H year, members will be provided guidance and assistance in completing 4-H projects and activities. This will encourage youth to develop desirable work habits, skill in techniques pertaining to specific projects and give them the satisfaction of seeing a project through to completion.
4-H members will be encouraged to participate in citizenship and leadership activities at the club and county level.
Medium-Term Objectives
Members will be encouraged to fulfill greater leadership roles in their individual clubs and at the county level.
4-H members will be provided opportunity to expand public speaking, critical thinking and decision making skills through participation in competitions at county and district levels.
During the 4-H year, county youth will build character and citizenship traits by becoming involved in activities that benefit other individuals and the community.
4-H members will be encouraged to submit record books.
Long-Term Objectives
Members will expand their public service and citizenship activities to benefit the county 4-H program, other individuals and communities.
Members are expected to take a more active leadership role by serving as officers in their clubs, the County 4-H Council or at the state level.
4-H members will attend more district and state workshops, contests or other learning opportunities.
Older 4-H members will provide assistance in project or leadership areas to younger 4-H members.
Lincoln county 4-H members will be able to utilize critical thinking and communication skills as a result of their experience in our program.
Evaluation Plan
Formal evaluation documents will be prepared for participants in county or district activities.
Evaluation of enrollment and re-enrollment trends will be used as guidelines to determine the effectiveness of the county wide program.
One on one feedback from members, parents and leaders is always a very useful to tool to determine direction of current or proposed program areas.
