To develop leaders trainings to provider volunteer leaders with an opportunity to gain knowledge, skills and information to serve the 4-H youth of Otero County, increase organization and project leaders through recruitment and training efforts or any othe
Situation Statement
Adult volunteers provide an invaluable role to youth development and the 4-H Youth Development Program in Otero County. 4-H volunteers must be currently be recruited, then screened, oriented as well as be trained to provide education and training to the youth of Otero County. Increasing the retention of adult volunteers is often a big challenge. Volunteer leaders must be educated on various topics of that include but are not limited to 4-H policies and procedures on: youth protection, enrollment, 4-H project requirements and leader roles.
Target Audience and Actions
Adult volunteers who are 19 years of age by January 1 of the current 4-H year and not enrolled as a 4-H member; potential adult volunteer leaders; and paraprofessionals.
Begin executing University mandated screening process in October 2006 for adult 4-H leaders.
Provide annual training on 4-H Polices and Procedures.
Develop educational programs to aid leaders in better program development and delivery.
