Plan Goal

Increase, enhance, and sustain Sierra County urban and rural lifestyles by teaching proper landscape plant selection, management, and efficient water use.

Situation Statement

Sierra county is comprised of 27 percent of citizens over the age of 65. Older, retired clientele are very interested in the county in horticulture and related fields. Assistance is needed in the care, management, selection, and knowledge of developing and manitaining health gardens and landscapes.

Target Audience and Actions

All citizens in Sierra County can be attributed to the horticulture programs offered by the Extension Service regardless of their ethnicity, economic status, or age group.

Short-Term Objectives

Maintain and create new programs that will spark interest in clientele that are interested in urban horticulture.

Provide a pathway for citizen with horticulture problems in the county to obtain needed information about urban horticulture.

Medium-Term Objectives

Provide group,organizations, and stakeholders basic programs on a variety of urban horticultural topics in an effort the increase knowledge of general horticultural practices.

Long-Term Objectives

Increase knowledge and interest in urban horticulture that will improve the lifestyles of stakeholders and enhance the beautification of our community and conserve natural resources.

Evaluation Plan

Programs will be evaluated by informal evaluation as well as formal means as the need arises such as pre and post test to measure knowledge gained during programs.
