Plan Goal

TO INCREASE THE KNOWLEDGE OF BRUSH AND WEED CONTROL PROGRAMS BY PRIVATE LAND RANCHERS AND TO ADOPT MANAGEMENT STRATEGIES.

Situation Statement

NOXIOUS BRUSH AND WEEDS ARE FOUND OVER THE ENTIRE COUNTY AND ARE A SERIOUS PROBLEM ON RANGELAND. GRASS PRODUCTION CAN BE SERIOUSLY CURTAILED. THIS IN TURN WILL LOWER ANIMAL PRODUCTION AND CAUSE LOSS OF INCOME TO THE RANCHING COMMUNITY.

Target Audience and Actions

RANCHERS IN MORA COUNTY. EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS WILL BE ARRANGED WITH NMSU SPECIALSTS, DEMONSTRATIONS AND ONE ON ONE WITH THE RANCHER. ALL PRODUCERS WILL BE NOTIFIED OF THESE MEETINGS.

Short-Term Objectives

TO INCREASE THE ADOPTION OF BRUSH AND WEED MANAGEMENT BY 5%THE FIRST YEAR. CONDUCT DEMONSTRATIONS AND EVALUATE RESULTS.

Medium-Term Objectives

PROVIDE LEADERSHIP IN DEMONSTRATING EFFICENT WAYS OF CNTROLING AND MANAGING NOXIOUS BRUSH AND WEEDS ON RANGELANDS BY 5% IN YEAR 2 T0 3.

Long-Term Objectives

TO INCREASE NET RANCH INCOME ON TREATED ACREAGE BY 5%OVER THE FOUR YEARS

Evaluation Plan

ALL AREAS WILL BE EVALUATED FOR PLANT KILL AND INCREASED FORAGE PRODUCTION. RECORDS WILL BE KEPT ON NUMBER OF CLIENTELE CONTACTED THROUGH MEETINGS AND INDIVIDUAL CONTACTS.
