Youth and adult Record Book trainings were conducted across the state, increasing knowledge and skills in record keeping and written communication. Ten youth submitted State Records in 2007.

Informational 4-H brochures were made available to all 361 students reached through school enrichment efforts at Pojoaque Elementary school, Temple Beth Shalom Religious School, and Garcia Street Club.

The 4-H Home Economist continued the collaborative partnership between Santa Fe County 4-H and Girl Scouts-Sangre de Cristo Council, Inc. through the Super Sitter program. Twelve youth and three adults participated in workshops such as books and bedtime stories, emergency and safety, entertaining children, and babysitting business and career exploration. The 4-H Home Economist enlisted the help of local community members such as retired librarians, Sheriff’s Deputies, working and stay-at-home Mothers, and a representative from Naya Childcare Resources.

A total of 361 youth were reached through school enrichment efforts by the 4-H Home Economist in 2006-2007 at Pojoaque Elementary school, Temple Beth Shalom Religious School, and Garcia Street Club. Breakdown by curriculum area resulted in a total of 50 youth participating in various lessons from the Germ Detective curriculum, 41 youth participating in various lessons from the Team Nutrition curriculum, and 270 youth participated in lessons from the Taste Buddies curriculum. Additional programs that resulted from these efforts included a day-long teacher in-service at Garcia Street Club on youth nutrition, an after-school parent meeting titled “How to Feed Youth Nutritiously” also at Garcia Street Club, and a new in-school 4-H club at Temple Beth Shalom.

Santa Fe County continues to provide the schools and youth organizations throughout the county with opportunities to participate in school enrichment efforts. In 2006-2007, the 4-H Home Economist targeted previously underserved populations including the Pojoaque School District, Temple Beth Shalom Religious School, Garcia Street Club, and Girl Scouts-Sangre de Cristo Council, Inc.. Letters were sent to school principals and many teachers advertising the Home-ec related curriculum areas; specifically Germ Detective and Team Nutrition.
