Awards Program
A total of 6 members of the Sierra County Council implemented the Annual Awards Program. This event seeks to recognize a year’s worth of effort and further validate that hard work does pay off. Members are challenged to increase their situational awareness and further expand their public speaking skills.

State 4-H Conference
There were 12 member in attendance of State 4-H Conference from Sierra County. All members were engaged in multiple judging events seeking to expand their oral communication, critical thinking and stress management skills. Of the twelve, two were selected to serve on the State 4-H Officer Team. 75% of members expressed their value of the event and said they would do it again next year.

Senior Leadership Retreat
Sierra County had three Senior Leadership Retreat attendees. These member attended leadership based workshops that focused on life and social skills such as communication, cooperation, teamwork, and service.

Rodeo Dance
Six members of the Sierra County 4-H council planned and implemented a 4-H Rodeo Dance to be held during a local high school rodeo event. These members developed their event planning, verbal/written communication, and critical thinking skills while providing a healthy, safe, and fun alternative to Rodeo Youth. The event was a success provided a beneficial atmosphere and was a lucrative fundraiser for the Sierra County 4-H Council.

Statewide Exhibition
Six 4-H members took their projects to higher learning levels and the next competitive step, statewide exhibition. Members wishing to show at State Fair exhibit some of the highest work ethic and devotion to the preparation of their animal projects. 4-H members are faced with tough yet healthy competition and as a result, are pushed closer to mastery of their skills. The work ethic, devotion, and concentration they utilize to effectively apply their skills will be instilled in their belief structures and beneficially used later in life.
Eighteen 4-H youth attended and exhibited at the Southern Fair in Las Cruces. 89% of students increased their exhibition skills as evidence by their improvement and quality of exhibition at County Fair. Of the original 18, 78% of exhibitor’s made sale at Southern and brought home over 22,000 dollars to help reward their efforts.
