Impact Reports
John Allen has signed on to support Adult Volunteer Leader Development within Catron County.
County 4-H Home Economist designed and conducted a Parent/Leader Orientation Dinner for old and new leaders and parents. Adults were able to learn all about the agents in Bernalillo County and who they could contact for help with a specific topic. The Evening also included an introduction to the local 4-H club, county council, and the state leadership team. Adults got an introduction to the county and state programs available to the kids. A tour of the county website and a questions and answer session also occurred. Approximately 7 parents were in attendance.
County 4-H Home Economist planned and conducted a leader training on the new IRS requirements for 4-H clubs. A PowerPoint was developed to help leaders understand who needs to file, how to file, and the steps in getting chartered. 6 clubs were represented at the meeting. Leaders were able to view PowerPoints, Forms, Charters and ask needed questions.
County 4-H Home Economist worked with County Leadership Team to plan and organize Leaders Forum Workshop- Tic Tac Toe 4-H in a Row. 5 Members of the Bernalillo County Leadership Team selected and researched 5 different game styles to help 4-H members learn curriculum. Agent and youth presented workshop to approximately 25 adults at Leaders Forum. Each youth presented a game to the audience and then conducted the game with the audience. During this process adults learned when, how, and why games are used to help youth learn. They also learned rules to follow when implementing games. Audience left with samples of games and activities they could use in their own clubs or counties.
Over one-hundred volunteer leaders, representing 10% of all enrolled leaders across the State of New Mexico, have gained knowledge and skills related to involving and working with volunteers, having effective club meetings, and available opportunities in 4-H through County Trainings provided by the Home Ec Specialist.
