Photography Contest guidelines and requirements have been updated and reflect more timely and diverse skills. In 2007, 88 photos were received from 31 youth representing eight counties. A Promotional 4-H Calendar is created annually using the top 12 photos from the photography contest, increasing recognition of youth participating in the photography contest. Calendars include 4-H and other organizations dates. Printing costs are sponsored by El Paso Electric Company. Situation: Zuni has one 4-H club called the Pathfinders. They have one major fund-raiser during the year called the Christmas Light Parade. It is held the evening of Thanksgiving and generates only $15 per entry. Recently we have had 4-H members on both ends of the age spectrum wanting to participate in Senior Leadership Retreat and also Novice 4-H Camp.

Objectives: To economically sponsor this 4-H participation in state-wide activities. To provide the transportation and chaperone function for these 4-H members. Also, to assist in teaching Hunter Education courses on the Zuni Reservation.

Inputs: In 2007 the agent took three Zuni 4-H boys to Senior Leadership Retreat in Albuquerque. Three other youth from McKinley County also attended. The way was paid by the McKinley County 4-H Council. Two Zuni 4-H members were signed up to attend Novice 4-H Camp but it was cancelled due to lack of enough participants from the state. Assistance was rendered to two hunter education classes on the reservation this past summer.

Outcomes: On November 23, 2006 the Zuni Pathfinders 4-H Club realized a profit of %305 for the Christmas Light Parade
fund-raiser. This was made possible as a record because of Zuni election campaign entries and the goodwill of former 4-H member Mike Troncoso who donated the awards from Tri-Star Trophies in Gallup. In addition, this past year the Zuni Pathfinders 4-H Club was donated $500 by the Gallup/Zuni chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation. Further, the tribe for the first time donated two cow elk hunts to drawn Zuni Hunter Safety students achieving perfect scores.
