Impact Reports
Producers were informed of effect loss of TB status would have on their shipping of cattle by producer meeting, e-mail and news paper articles. Informal survey indicases that about 80% have an appreceation of the problem.
Awareness was increased of novel management practices and knowledge of current issues by 20% for 10% of Eddy County New Mexico livestock producers through educational programs and direct communications. Bio security was increased by 100% of the darries in Eddy County and awarness to 20% of the Beef producers.
Short-term
• Increased awareness of novel management practices and knowledge of current issues for more than 10% of New Mexico livestock producers through educational programs, direct communications, and popular press publications.
• Increased the number of producers using technology to evaluate production and financial aspects of cow-calf enterprises through participation in a Standardized performance analysis workshop.
• More than 90% of attendees surveyed at educational workshops perceive the monetary value of education gained exceeded the cost of attendance.
Medium term
• Improve decision-making skills of more than 500 livestock producers and county Extension agents through educational programs and seminars such that they are more confident in livestock management.
Long Term
• Improved knowledge level of county Extension agents regarding management of sheep and beef cattle through in-service trainings in the area of Range Nutrition and Management.

One producers meeting was held on trichomoniasis in cooperation with local veterinarians, Eddy County Cattle growers, New Mexico beef council, Eddy County Cow bells, Paul’s Vet supply, and Fort Dodge Co. and the Extension veterinarian and bio security. This was held in the community of Hope NM and attracted 35 producers.
Also more then 40 on premise visits took place to identify potential sources of livestock health problems. Over 75 livestock record keeping calendars were distributed to producers with a copy of the NMSU CAHE Trichomoniasis publication.
