Sierra Co. Ag Day
There were 43 members and leaders recruited to present and manage groups at Sierra County’s Ag Day. 4-H youth presenters delivered an insight into the agricultural industry to elementary and middle school aged children. These presentations challenged 4-H youth to go outside comfort zones to improve their leadership skills actively engaging audiences and effectively delivering positive messages.

Turkey Shoot
32 members and leaders came together to conduct an annual shooting event for the residents of Sierra County. Members improved their work ethic and logistical planning skills as well as refined personal interaction and communication techniques.

Livestock School
Four members took part in the statewide livestock school. Members were challenged to increase their knowledge in the following areas: animal selection, nutrition and deficiencies, facilities maintenance, disease management, and proper exhibition techniques. 75% of members were 1st time attendees and reported a substantial increase in knowledge gained.

State 4-H Conference
There were 7 Sierra County 4-H members in attendance at the State 4-H Conference. All members were engaged in multiple judging events seeking to expand their oral communication, critical thinking and stress management skills. Of the seven all were on a state championship team. 100% of members expressed their satisfaction in the value of this event and said they would do it again next year.

4-H Rodeo
The first annual 4-H Rodeo of Sierra County was a new event this year. Sierra Co. 4-H raised over 3,500 dollars to put on this statewide event and gave out 24 event buckles. The Rodeo was well attended with almost 300 event entries and over 70 contestants. The vast majority of feedback was extremely positive. There were solid payouts, great prizes, and some of the best stock on the 4-H circuit. The committee will be looking to make the event bigger and better in the years to come. The event serves as a positive engagement opportunity for local youth and a great recruiting tool. As a direct result of this event the Agent helped to sign up over a dozen new senior 4-H members.
