Impact Report Enrollment Colfax County started another year with five established 4-H clubs. Of the five clubs, one had a new organizational leader. Both the new and veteran leaders have jumped into their new roles with increasing confidence and success. To increase enrollment, the current Colfax County 4-H members along with the 4-H agent recruited new members throughout the county at schools with classroom visits and on the radio through interviews that the radio announcer did with the 4-H agent. Newsletters The 4-H agent compiles the monthly newsletter, which reaches 65 families in Colfax County. The 4-H agent includes dates of shows, deadlines for registrations for retreats, and competitions, results for prior events, upcoming sales, events, and birthdays. Colfax County 4-H Council The 4-H agent assists the officer team with the agenda for the County Council meetings, along with help in preparing the minutes for the meeting. The 4-H agent assists the Colfax County 4-H Council treasurer in writing the financial report and offers guidance to officers during the meeting. Awards Banquet The 4-H agent assisted in the preparation for the annual 4-H banquet to honor 4-H and FFA members who have won honors in the livestock and indoor exhibit areas of the county fair. The total attendance for the banquet, held at the First United Methodist Church catered by K-Bob’s Restaurant in Raton, was 72 4-H and FFA youth, parents, guests, and donors. Forty-nine plaques were awarded to 25 youth during a power point presentation showing the county fair in review as well as each individual winner. The 4-H agent was responsible for seeking donors for the plaques, acquiring the facility to host the event, sending correspondence to 4-H members, leaders, and donors, billing donors, ordering plaques, preparing the program, developing the power point presentation, also taking money at the door, and helped clean after the banquet.
