Impact Report The New Mexico Crop Production Clinic was facilitated by the Agent in conjunction with Thomas Chemicals. The clinic was held in Moriarty and attended by approximately 150 agriculturalists. Attendees received 5 CEU's with completion of the program. The program agenda consisted of presentation on bio technology and spider mites; pesticide laws; maintaining a pesticide applicator license; FSA programs; NRCS programs; glyphosate resistant and alternative herbicides for field crops; NM noxious weed identification; and alfalfa, beans, and corn threats and herbicides. Professional speakers included Robert Bowling, Jack Lyons, Jim Wanstall, Rick Arnold, Tiffany Aragon, John Perea, and Wayne Sleep. Throughout the year, a number of area producers received training and were administered the test for a pesticide applicator license. Torrance County experienced a higher than usual number of poinsonous and invasive weed infestation this year due to the winter and spring moisture. The Agent in conjunction with the Central New Mexico Weed Management worked with area farmers and ranchers in identifying and control methods of these noxious and invasive weeds. This is an on-going effort that will continue with the mapping and identification of infestation areas.
