Impact Report The McKinley County Weed Management Area was formed with the help of McKinley County Agent, BLM, Local Soil and Water Conservation District, and Producers. We are still in the development stages and working with producers to gain their interest. We have gotten grants through the McKinley Soil and Water District where we have some salt cedar eradication in river ways and on some private ranches. Our goal is to get land owners to get their private pesticide applicator licenses and begin treating various noxious weeds on their own land. The agent has offered trainings but so far only a few have shown up. As a management area we are in the process of developing a list and mapping of brush and weed species that have been shown to be growing in the county .
