Impact Report The Sierra County Rural Economic Development through Tourism organization in Sierra County has played an active role in promoting tourism through grant projects for the past eighteen years. This year the agent along with the organization received grant funding that promoted “Destination Sierra County” which is an annual event that attracts over a thousand people to local arts and craft businesses. The organization also assisted in funding place mats of local attractions that were distributed across the county. Several visitors were asked at local businesses how they found out about them and answered that they had seen the place mats. The place mats were also the subject of an article in the New Mexico magazine where the writer mentioned that it was a great marketing tool.
