Impact Report | Farmer Rancher Drought Workshop The agent worked with the NMSU Extension Beef Specialist and representatives from the State Soil and Conservation District and the Farm Service Agency to host a half day event where information was given about early weaning, programs available to producers from the Farm Service Agency and the Soil Conservation. A representative from Silvus Grass Insurance was on hand to present on the forage insurance that had been sold in this area and the problems that arose due to a failure with the satellites. There were 22 participants in attendance from a five county radius. It was reported back that as a result of this workshop 90% of the producers did wean their calves early. The afternoon after the workshop a rain storm came the first one in 83 days so a participant from the workshop called in and said "it was such a good workshop it even brought moisture." |
