Impact Report In July 2010, two baking workshops were hosted by the San Juan County 4-H agent and Home Economist for the 4-H youth planning to enter 4-H baking projects in the County Fair. The youth in attendance learned valuable cooking and baking skills including kitchen safety, planning ahead, critical thinking and team work. 50% of the youth that attended participated in the County Fair, entering projects learned in the workshops. County Contests were held in June 2010. Forty three members participated in contests consisting of fashion review, talent competition, and home ec bowl. The Home Economist was in charge of helping to prepare individuals for the home ec bowl. 4 individuals planning to enter home ec bowl during county contests attended a series of four weekly trainings consisting of educational reinforcements and practice bowl competitions designed to help them develop skills in home economics related areas such as kitchen utensil and equipment identification, clothing construction tool and equipment recognition and identification, and elements of interior design identification. During the County Contests the Home Economist was responsible for setting up and implementing the Home Ec Bowl and assisting other agents with contests as necessary.
