Impact Report | Thirty-five 4-H members participated in the Otero County Fair showcasing their development of life skills through indoor exhibits related to over 200 project areas. Four hundred thirty-eight items were exhibited, a 38% increase in exhibits from 2009 and a 21% increase in the total number of exhibitors participating in indoor 4-H exhibits from 2009. Over 200 of the county exhibits qualified and were entered in the New Mexico State Fair 4-H Indoor Exhibit Department and 59 of the county exhibits qualified to be entered in the Southern New Mexico State Fair 4-H Indoor Exhibit Department. Youth received recognition and feed back for continued improvement of knowledge and skills. Recognition for indoor exhibits included ribbons, rosettes, plaques, belt buckles, premiums, and duffle bag. 4-H youth showed an increase in knowledge and skills related to home economics, creative arts, animal science, engineering science, and personal development as evidenced by quality baking products, woodworking items, Cloverbud displays, and other exhibits. |
