Impact Report | During the 2008-2009 program year, the agent offered 9 Spanish-language programs. Topics included money management, understanding feelings, gang prevention, dicipline, self-esteem and healthy homes-allergies and asthma. These programs were offered in County Community Resource Centers, public schools and at community agencies. Programs were offered in Organ, Chaparral, San Miguel, and Anthony. The agent also had Spanish language material available at all community events in which the agent participated. These community events included Diabetes Wellness Day, International Mariachi Parque Festival, City of Las Cruces National Night Out and the Hatch Chile Fest. The total number of contacts made at these events was almost 3,000. Civil Rights and Extension Clubs: Every year clubs sign a recertification statement that states NMSU’s civil rights policy on non-discrimination. The agent presented the form at a council meeting to explain the policy and address any questions. All four clubs signed the recertification statement. |
