Impact Report The Home Economist is recognized as a resource person for having leadership skills and was sought after to assist on a state level several times. In November 2008 the Home Economist was requested by the State 4-H Activities Specialist to present an etiquette program to 10 4-H members and 3 advisors of the State 4-H Leadership Team. The 4-H members gained information to be used when dinning with 4-H donors and supporters including how to use a basic place setting during a meal, proper behavior for dinning and social situations, and how to handle distressing mealtime moments or common mistakes. In March 2009 the Home Economist was requested by the State 4-H Activities Specialist and State Leadership Team Advisors to conduct a workshop with the Otero County 4-H Agent on planning and organizing successful events and workshops for 12 youth of the State 4-H Leadership Team. During the workshop the Home Economist provided youth with information on how to prepare workshop plans for managing learning activities, time, materials, equipment, and supplies. She also taught characteristics of children from different age groups and characteristics of adults that influence planning of activities for these audiences. After conducting the workshop the State 4-H Leadership Team and Advisors used the knowledge gained during their weekend team planning meeting. In July 2009 the Home Economist was requested by the State 4-H Activities Specialist to conduct a workshop at the annual State 4-H Conference with the Eddy County Home Economist on etiquette of writing thank you cards. Eighteen 4-H members participated in the workshop. Information presented included how to write a thank you card and a demonstration was provided on how to make homemade thank you cards. Kits were distributed to 4-H members with the materials and supplies needed to make cards. 4-H members were encouraged to make thank you cards for their 4-H Leaders and donors which sponsor 4-H awards.
