| Impact Report | 4-H Canning Class Summer passed and many of the 4-H clubs in Sandoval County did not have time, as they usually do, to get their indoor exhibits ready for County Fair. The 4-H Home Economist held a canning class, for thirteen participants, at the Canning Center located in the Jemez Valley. Through the making of strawberry jam participants learned basic canning skills such as sanitation, how much head space to leave, and the importance of taking out air bubbles. As a result of the class twelve jars of strawberry jam were displayed at County Fair, two of which went on to State Fair. The class had great reviews and there are plans to have another in early spring to can beans. |
