Impact Report | PY 2009: Over 50% of 4-H Youth enrolled in Archery Shooting Sports participated in weekly practice, safety training, and competition. Approximately 90% of youth who participated in Valencia County Archery demonstrated significant improvement in archery scores from during the 20 week period, ending with county contest. Valencia County Community Expo: The 1st annual VCC Expo was held in August with a strong turnout and community support. Valencia CES Agents and staff spent large amounts of time and effort in its development, aiding the VCC Expo Ad hoc board. In addition, assistance was offered to youth with livestock. The majority of youth enrolled in the 4-H attended the Expo, and parents and kids commented on its success. Farm Safety for Kids Presentation: Farm Safety 4 Kids from Iowa, conducted an interactive presentation to members of Valencia County's Youth on farm safety related topics. Approximately 30 youth who attended were asked to discuss common risks found throughout the farm, and how to mitigate them. 4th Annual Fall Farm Festival: Over 1,000 residents of Valencia County attended the annual 4-H fundraiser held in conjunction with the Los Lunas AES. 4-H clubs and officers held educational booths, and recruited potential new youth to the 4-H program in Valencia County. |
