Impact Report | Crownpoint Life Skills Teen Kitchen Creations (The snack series for teens and their families) This is the second year that Sondra Madewell the Life Skills teacher at Crownpoint has requested “Teen Kitchen Creations” (The snack series for teens and their families) for the 7-8 grade students. 71 students completed 4 sessions. The series includes hands-on activities (preparing snacks), 4 lessons 50/50 method, nutrition facts, sweets, heart healthy. The program includes Control you diabetes for life series: Choosing Foods at Meals and Snacks, How to read a Nutrition Facts Label, What about Sweets, and Keeping Heart Healthy. Evaluations showed that the students gained knowledge in all four areas and they enjoyed preparing/tasting the recipes they prepared. This series was taught by the I.H.S. Dietician, Pat Sheley and CES Home Economist. The series was delivered in 4 sessions during the month of May. |
