Impact Report Kitchen Creations Farmington Kitchen Creations on March 27, 2009, 10 adults completed Kitchen Creations (a school for people with diabetes and their families). Anne Christian-Dold, dietician presented hands on activities for the group and provided information on diabetes the cause, stats in New Mexico even San Juan county and prevention with healthy eating and exercises. The group prepared several recipes and they were able to share their comments about each session. The participants entered the classes with a limited knowledge about diabetes and left with a better understanding of how to control their blood glucose levels through diet and exercise. They learned how to plan meals using the 50/50 plate and the Diabetes Food Pyramid, how to count carbohydrates, how to prepare low fate vegetables, the importance of bean and grains in the diet, and serving sizes. To top it off, the class made front page of the Farmington Daily Times.
