Impact Report | Tamale Class The months of November and December of 2008, a tamale class was taught twice at the Shiprock Women’s shelter and once at the Iyanbito Chapter. Forty-three participants learned how to prepare traditional tamale from corn husk, food safety, kitchen safety, and several different ways tamales can be prepared. It was suggested that the tamale recipe could be made with canola oil instead of lard. The participants knew limited knowledge on how to prepare tamale and when they left the class they were all eager to try on their own with different meat. |
