Impact Report | The continuation of Extension brush control on select ranches within Guadalupe County has helped to insure that producers continue to seek out ways and means to protect their ranches from complete take over of unwanted brush and or cacti. This brush and cacti are an ever present problem effecting all ranches within the county.Several plots are evaluated annually to determine the herbicides effectiveness and to eavalutae it on real world drought conditions. The plots are on the Agar ranch the Pete Marez ranch. As well as teaching about removal of select plants ,we are also interested in developing longe range selection of certain herbicide Which work on especially tough resistant species such as Russian olive bushes .In July Keith Duncan , Kirk McDanial and myself setup and experimantal plot for several new chemcals which might work on russian olive control. This was a joint venture between Dupont and our extension range weed specialist. These plots will be ongoing over several years to evaluate and provide useful data . |
