Impact Report | Ten different articles were distrusted to the local newspapers for county residents on financial management. Topics of the articles included: *Holiday Shopping *College Spending *Personal Money Management *Internet Shopping *Teaching children About Money *Back to School Shopping *Getting Your Home Ready to Sell *Look Out for Problem Mortgages *Getting a Home Equity Mortgage *The Value of Your Antiques Additional information was provided during the county fair. NMSU Bulletins regarding personal finance were available to anyone wishing to take the information home. Financial information is published in the bi-monthly home economics newsletter. The newsletter is sent out to more than 260 people in Lea County and New Mexico. Fifteen (15) Extension Homemaker members attended a home tour of new homes built in the Hobbs, NM area. The participants on the tour learned of new energy saving methods that can be implemented on a new or existing home, current building prices for the Lea County area and current loans available for seniors wishing to change their current living arrangements. A Going Green Workshop was presented for Lea County residents in conjunction with the county Agriculture Agent and the local electric cooperative. Five percent (5%) of the participants have begun to implement small energy saving techniques in their homes and businesses. |
