Impact Report Provided a presentation on how to make snacks part of a healthy eating plan for 5 members of the Diabetes Success Group. Participants received information on the Diabetes Food Guide Pyramid, serving sizes of foods, and how to make changes in recipes to make them healthier by substituting ingredients or changing cooking techniques. Completed evaluations showed that 100% of participants learned how snacking can be part of a healthy eating plan, 60% now know how to fit snacks into the Diabetes Food Guide Pyramid and the serving sizes of foods in the Pyramid, 100% learned how a recipe can be altered by reducing or substituting ingredients, and 100% can now modify a recipe so it is healthier. One of the evaluations from the participants commented that the presentation provided by Home Economist was very organized, flowed well, had an excellent balance of props and written handouts, that they would enjoy other classes offered and would refer others to the Home Economist for information.
