Impact Report | Throughout the 2007-2008 program year the Home Economist taught 9 adult nutrition lessons and 7 youth nutrtition lessons in Rio Arriba County. The Home Economist collaborated with YDI Headstart, El Centro de Los Niño’s, and the Rio Arriba County Health Council as well as McCurdy and Espanola Schools. Through these classes about 76 people learned MyPyramid basics, Food Safety basics, and some healthy cooking tips. At least 90% of participants said they would be taking information and skills learned and applying it. The Home Economist also provided information and brief instruction at 4 Health Fairs throughout the year in the county. This allowed contact with around 100 people. Many expressing interest in nutrition classes. Throughout the 2007-2008 program year the Home Economist conducted 3 Kitchen Creation classes. Two of the classes took place at the Rio Arriba County Extension office and one was collaboration with San Ildefonso Pueblo. In all there were about 45 participants. All participants stated on evaluations sheets that they would apply at least 75% of what they learned. |
