Impact Report | 65 4-H youth enrolled in the De Baca County 4-H program during the 2007/2008 4-H year. A leadership team of 7 4-H Senior and Junior members serve as county Council officers where the Council met on a monthly basis to direct county 4-H programming across the county. Activities and Impacts for 2007/2008 Include: *An 25% increase in 4-H record book completion fromn 2007, where 6 record book completion workshops and trainings were held and made availalbe to local 4-H members. A group of ten 4-H members attended each workshop--15 members taking advantage of the training. All of these members submitted completed record books *4-H youth development involving the Junior Livestock show program included over 30 4-H families. These youth participated in local, state and regional fairs. *A total of 40 4-H and county youth participated in the horse playday program that the Extension Service and 4-H clubs sponsored. There were a total of four activities throughout the year with an average of 28 youth participating in each activity. Youth learned horsemanship, sportsmanship and healthy competition with the self-esteem and responsibilty activiites. *Seventeen 4-H Novice and Junior members and ten parents/leaders attended the District Judging Contest in Chavez County participating in Public Speaking, wildlife, livestock and horse judging, shooting sports and clothing contests. *35 local 4-H youth participated in County 4-H contests in such activities as livestock and horse judging, horticulture, wildlife, shooting sports, clothing and public speaking. *10 Senior 4-H members participated in State 4-H conference in a variety of competitions and activities including Horse, Livestock, Meats, Wool, Hippology and clothing. *The agent worked with the FFA Ag Advisor to put on a youth ag day at the Fort Sumner Schools were elementary and highschool students pre-K through 12th grade were educated on agriculture and safety. Programs included equipment safety, disaster preparedness, Wildlife Safety and animal safety. A total of 300 students and teachers attended with a 100% increase in level of knowledge concerning all subject matter when surveyed by the agent. *The agent worked with state 4-H specialist to plan and coordinate a bi-county leadership training with De Baca and Guadalupe Counties. 33 youth attended the parlimentary procedure portion on the program and another 18 adults attended the adult volunteer leader program. Evaluation indicated that over 80% of youth learned at least two basic parlimentary procedure elements and all adults indicated an increase in knowledge regarding procedures and policies concerning clubs and activities. |
