Impact Report Impact Report Youth Development (2008) The Agent has provided education regarding youth development by various means in 2008. The agent has served as the 4-H organizational leader and horse project leader in 2008. In 2008 the Sweetwater 4-H club has gone through some changes. Basically at this time the program is in a rebuilding stage. The agent has enlisted the help of a new tribal 4-H coordinator, the county of Rio Arriba extension personnel and the New Mexico State University 4-H office and all five local schools in this effort. Currently these efforts have been successful and 2009 promises to be a successful 4-H year. The agent has worked with the head start program on a garden for basic education regarding colors and vegetables. The head start program has taken ownership of this garden and would like to continue and expand it in 2009. The agent has worked at three 4-H fairs this year. The Rio Arriba County Fair where the agent helped in receiving animals and set up. The Agent also participated in the Navajo Nation Fair where the agent helped set up, receive entries, helped with the junior livestock show, the Horse show and the livestock auction. The agent also participated in the Shiprock Fair where the agent assisted with the set up, senior livestock show and the horse show. By assisting in these fairs the agent has assisted over 100 youth learned more about the fair process. The agent has also learned more about the fair process and can now share this information with local 4-H youth interested in participating in these activities in years to come.
