Impact Report 4-H IS ONE OF THE BIGGER EXTENSION PROGRAMS IN THIS COUNTY AND CONSUMES QUITE A FEW HOURS,NIGHTS AND WEEKENDS. WE HAVE BEEN REBULDING THE FAIR GROUNDS THE LAST TWO YEARS. THE AGENT HAS PLAYED A BIG ROLL IN GOING TO THE LEDISLATOR TESTIFYING,GETTING THE BROSURES READY AND DOING THE BIDS ON ELECTRIC, PLUMBING ETC. WE HAVE RECIVED 210,0000 THOUSAND OVER THE LAST THREE YEARS. THE AGENT WENT TO THE LODGERS TAX COMMITTE AND RECIVED $8,000 THOUSAND FOR FAIR GROUNDS PROJECTS THIS YEAR. THE AGENT ALSO HAD TO DO THE COUNTY FAIR WITHOUT THE OTHER COUNTY AGENT FROM SAN MIGUEL COUNTY. WHICH INCLUDED SHEERING ANIMALS IN BOTH COUNTIES, RUNNING THE SHOW RING, HELPING 4-HERS GET THEIR ANIMALS READY FOR SHOW, COOKING THE MEAL FOR 200 PEOPLE AT THE FAIR. THIS IS A GREAT IMPACT ON THE 250 4-HERS IN THE TWO COUNTIES THAT USE THESE FAIR GROUNDS AND I HOPE THEY APPERICATE WHAT I DO FOR THEM AND THE UNIVERSITY. SEVEN 4-HERS ATTENDED HORSE SCHOOL AND TWO WENT TO LIVESTOCK SCHOOL. THESE 4-HERS AQUIRE MUCH NEEDED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS FROM THESE SCHOOLS. OVER THE LAST TWO YEARS WE HAVE HAD AN INCREASE IN YOUNGER KIDS JONING 4-H AND NEW FAMILIES INTERESTED IN 4-H. ONE 4-HER WILL BE SHOWING A STEER AT THE DENVER LIVESTOCK SHOW THIS YEAR. THE 4-H PROGAM HAS INCOURAGED 4-HERS TO EXPAND THIER KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL LEVELS BEYOND THE COUNTY PROGRAM. KIDS COWS AND MORE MORA AND SAN MIGUEL COUNTIES HOSTED THIS EVENT AGAIN THIS YEAR. AGENCIES INVOLVED WERE NRCS, CATTLE GROWERS, DAIRY INDUSTRY AND EXTENSION. THIS IS PRESENTED TO THIRD GRADERS FROM SIX AREA SCHOOLS. THE KIDS LEARN A LOT ABOUT AGRICULTURE AND ENJOY THE DAY. ATTENDANCE 250.
